Tulane is consistently in the top 10 schools in terms of quality of life. In 2023, the Princeton Review rated them the number one school for happiest students. They are also number two in the country for being the most engaged in community service, ranked by the Princeton Review in 2023. 85% of their students come from out of state. Tulane is a private, midsized, research institution. They have the resources of a large university, but the close-knit connections of a small liberal arts college. The university is divided into five schools: architecture, business, liberal arts, public health, and science and engineering. They really encourage interdisciplinary learning, and students are required to take some courses in various areas to see what they like. Tulane has an extremely low student to teacher ratio at eight to one with an average class size of 21 students. They have about 8200 undergrads.
