About This School

Students take only one class at a time for a total of 3.5 weeks for each block, and there are 8 blocks per year. Classes meet Mon–Fri from 9am–12pm; they are discussion-based, experimental, and immersive. While many colleges offer 45-minute classes per semester, the block plan allows for the “magic hour” when students have gotten settled in, reviewed prior work, and are ready to fully immerse themselves. STEM students may have additional lab 1–3pm (not every day). After each 18 day block, students enjoy a 4.5-day block break between each block when they are fully off and have no work to worry about whatsoever. 32 credits are required to graduate (1 block = 1 credit = 4 credit hours elsewhere), so students can easily graduate in a standard 4-year timeline. Students don’t need to declare their major until the end of sophomore year. 10 to 12 blocks are typically required for major courses, and STEM students need 14-16 blocks.
