Northwestern University

Northwestern University is located in Evanston, Illinois, just three miles north of the city limits of Chicago right on Lake Michigan. This location gives students the best of both worlds with a sprawling residential campus that has lots of green space as well as proximity to the third largest city in the US. Downtown Evanston is very vibrant, and campus also has a close-knit community feel. There are tons of little restaurants and jobs right at the edge of campus. It is just 10 to 11 miles north of downtown Chicago, which provides students with a lot of internship and research opportunities. Northwestern’s students come from all 50 states and more than 95 countries. It is a priority of theirs to have a diverse student body, and they feel that students learn just as much from their peers as they do from their faculty members. Their student to faculty ratio is six to one, and most classes have less than 20 students.
