Lynn University

GPA: 3.0

Lynn is a small liberal arts school with 3500 students and an 18 to 1 student to teacher ratio. They have seven dorms and might soon build an eighth, and all of the buildings look shiny and new. Lynn is a division two school that offers 9 men’s sports and 10 women’s sports but no football. They have won 25 national championships and are part of the SEC in the Sunshine State Conference. They do play some D1 schools such as FAU, which is 5 miles down the road at the same exit off 95. Another benefit of having FAU so close is that many Lynn students go to tailgates and football games at FAU, which provides more of a big school feel while still calling the small school home. Lynn is full of school spirit as students love to come watch sporting events and cheer for their team. They have an event called the First Forty where they put on an event each day for the first 40 days of the school year so new students can find “their people.” At the end of each block, Lynn hosts a block party to celebrate completion of another block; that’s eight block parties per year. In addition to Lynn having a strong sense of community, everyone seems to feel accepted, and there is a great deal of diversity with 17% of the students being international students. The top five countries represented at Lynn are Brazil, the Bahamas, Italy, Spain, and Venezuela. You will notice in my pictures that there are many flags surrounding a lake at the entrance of the school. If a new student attends Lynn and his/her flag is not already flying, the school will add that flag to the existing circle of flags.

Lynn has been test optional since 2014 and firmly believes in a holistic application review. If students choose not to submit test scores, it will absolutely not hurt their chances of admission. An article by Inside Higher Ed states that this year (2022) 80% of applicants chose not to submit test scores; this is up from 60%. New student enrollment is up 59% in the past ten years. Lynn really doesn’t concern themselves with all the typical numbers, but they do publish them. The middle 50% GPA is 2.89-3.69, SAT of 1040-1190, and ACT of 20-26. 40% of their students come from private high schools, and 81% of them live on campus. 45 countries are represented, and the top states represented by Lynn students are Florida, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. The most popular majors include international business management, biology, entrepreneurship, and psychology.
